The 3rd annual Rock the Spectrum event will be held on Friday September 5, 2014 at Branson Landing. All monies raised will go to directly help families affected by autism in Branson, Missouri and surrounding areas. This event is founded by Brent & Cristal Hedrick in honor of their goddaughter Shaylee O’Day. We are excited to announce that The Haygoods will be returning with their light show “Electric Dream,” and the amazing DJ Kolmega has signed on again as well. We will again have an awesome lineup of entertainment which will all be joining together in support of helping children with autism, a disorder that currently affects 1 in 50 children. A child is diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum every 15 minutes. On May 20, 2013, the CDC announced a 72 percent increase in the diagnosis of autism over the past four years. This already staggering rate is rapidly growing. Many insurance providers will not cover expenses of children on the spectrum. The Hedricks share the same goal with Shaylee’s parents Chuck & Michelle O’Day, and that is to let our local families who deal with autism on a daily basis that there is light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully give them a sigh of relief. It is also very important to the Hedricks & O’Days to spread the awareness that autism is recoverable. This will be the 6th year the two families have done an autism event for the Branson area. Cristal and Michelle founded A Day for Shay & Pals in 2009. Brent and Chuck are working on creating a summer program for our local families as well.
